TRIP OVERVIEW
Spantik, or Golden Peak, is the standard first 7,000er in the Karakoram. The south-east ridge is non-technical but long, with four camps and a big summit day.
The approach from Arandu through the Chogolungma Glacier is scenic and gradual, giving excellent acclimatisation.
Fit trekkers with basic crampon and rope skills can realistically succeed here.
